Success Stories

Since the Coalition was formed in 1993 it has had positive impacts in the Dover community.

Each year Dover conducts a Student Behavior Survey for students in grades 7-12. Through those surveys we have seen a significant reduction in past 30-day use of alcohol among high school students. In 2013, 35.5% of students reported using alcohol in the past 30-days. In 2019, that number dropped to 22.4%.

“The Congresswoman read an article in Foster’s Daily Democrat several weeks ago about the Dover Coalition for Youth’s efforts to combat prescription drug abuse. She thought what you were all doing was great, and has always wanted to help combat the problem as well. As a result, the Congresswoman drafted a bill that would provide grants to communities to install prescription drug drop-boxes at pharmacies, post offices, police stations, and/or fire stations.”
Adam Robbins, Junior Legislative Assistant/Press Assistant to Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter

“Once again the Dover Coalition is leading the way on a subject that needs to be addressed. Great job in putting this (the town hall meeting on underage drinking) together. As a long time STA hockey coach I have very strong feelings on the subject.”
Perry E. Plummer, Fire Chief / Emergency Management Director for the City of Dover, NH
